SALES & SERVICES

Commonly referred to as “distribution”, Sales is defined as “the selling, transporting, merchandising and delivery of a product or service to consumers,” and Services is defined as “the organized system of providing accommodation and activities required by customers.”  At HexagonEC we believe the act of selling and servicing a product should not be separate from the overall marketing activity because each has a large dependence on the other.  While many refer to “distribution” as an element of marketing, sales and services are a clearer connotation for the act of delivering product to customers.  HexagonEC understands and maximizes the symbiotic relationship between marketing and sales/services activities to increase market penetration, units sold, and margins and develop mutually beneficial relationships with the channel and consumers where possible.

In any bookstore you will find numerous texts proclaiming a new methodology for selling or a new approach guaranteed to deliver the desired revenue results; however, the majority of these texts focus on selling and services as elements separate from the marketing activity.  We believe this is unfortunate as the knowledge gained and data gathered throughout all facets of marketing must be distilled and focused so Account Managers and Services employees act with the clearest understanding of the company’s desired goals as well as with the specific needs of a market in mind.  Anyone familiar with sales and services knows the relationship component of sales strategy will always win in the long run.  Therefore, understanding the positioning of the company, the programs underway and the driving marketing philosophy empowers sales and services personnel to continually propel the company forward through serving as the voice of the customer in all marketing activities.

While many organizations want their sales and services teams focused on revenue generation, to take a single minded approach limits the strategic thinking of these critical resources and may negatively impact long-term growth.  Customers are the scarcest resource available to business.  There are a finite number of customers and that number decreases as markets are segmented and businesses truly focused.  Therefore, rather than making the mistake of focusing just on short-term revenue, nurturing relationships with customers that are beneficial to everyone is critical.  HexagonEC understands this and by applying our HS3 process can optimize any sales or services operation and align operations with overall corporate objectives.

HexagonEC has identified six facets of sales and services which any organization interested in optimizing their revenue and customer relationships should consider.  These areas are identified in the mouse over image on the right along with a small sample of the solutions HexagonEC offers.  Please contact us for a complete list of solutions or a customized project at: firststep@hexagonec.com
